NEWS: 3rd Learning and Exchange Visit in Herceg Novi, Montenegro
The Municipality of Herceg Novi, through its Secretariat for Tourism, Economic Development and Investments, hosted a two-day learning and exchange visit within the GREENSMES project, funded by the Interreg ADRION programme.
During the event, project partners – TNO (IT), KEPA (GR), RDA Green Karst (SI), AGRRA (HR), CIDEA (BA), FEP (RS), ADF (AL), NCDIEL (MK), OHN (ME) and TEAM-Center (AL) – had the opportunity to learn about local and national practices in the fields of circular economy, green transition, and sustainable development.
The official opening of the first working day was marked by a speech from Ivan Otović, President of the Municipal Assembly of Herceg Novi, who emphasized the importance of international cooperation in implementing the green agenda.
As the program continued, Ilija Peulić from the Secretariat for Ecology and Energy Efficiency presented local-level experiences and projects in the field of circular economy. Attendees also had the opportunity to hear presentations by Ranko Lazović from the ECO Fund on national sustainable development policies, as well as a lecture by Prof. Dr. Nikša Grgurević on Sustainable Economic Development.
A special segment was dedicated to local initiatives: the Morić family presented their rural household as an example of successful sustainable business, while Milica Boca from the NGO “Don’t Throw Bottles” spoke about the organization’s activities and vision in environmental protection.
On the second day of their visit to Herceg Novi, the project partners visited examples of good practice:
- Baldo Company: An Example of Innovation – Implementation of Robotics in Business
- Rural household Palikuća: Sustainable Eco-Business Through the Promotion and Preservation of Tradition, green transition
The two-day event in Herceg Novi successfully brought together representatives of the GREENSMES project partner organizations, local and national institutions, the NGO sector, and local initiatives, enabling the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and ideas in the fields of green transition and circular economy. The field visits and direct interaction with local good practices further strengthened the exchange and motivation for implementing similar models across the region.
