NEWS: GREENSMES Pilot Activities Expanded: Voucher Calls Open in Albania, Croatia and Slovenia

Pilot activities of the GREENSMES project continue to expand with the launch of additional public calls for voucher schemes by project partners in Croatia, Slovenia, and Albania, following the earlier calls opened in Greece and North Macedonia.

Project partner Albanian Development Fund (ADF) published the call for Albania, Zadar County Rural Development Agency (AGRRA) launched its call in Croatia, while Regional Development Agency Green Karst opened the call in Slovenia.

As with the previously launched calls in Greece and North Macedonia, all calls target MSMEs and support the same harmonised set of “soft” green innovation activities within the GREENSMES project, including:

  • Building capacity for innovation management through tailored workshops and training programmes aimed at raising awareness and empowering employees to drive green and sustainable initiatives
  • Developing programmes and concepts for innovation challenges (e.g. hackathons and case study competitions) in collaboration with educational institutions, with the aim of generating external ideas and strengthening partnerships
  • Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), analysing the environmental impact of products or services throughout their entire lifecycle
  • Development of energy efficiency projects, including preparation of project applications, access to funding opportunities, and adoption of sustainability practices
  • Support for green innovation products and services, including idea evaluation, intellectual property rights (IPR) strategy, product development services, and business development support

Through the scheme, selected SMEs will receive vouchers in the form of expert support services provided by certified experts from the GREENSMES network.

Application deadlines for these open calls are:

  • Albania: 5 June 2026
  • Croatia: 29 May 2026
  • Slovenia: 8 June 2026
